Human post exposure anti-rabies prophylactic assistance in the south of Brazil

Rabies is a zoonosis caused by Lyssavirus, with progressive development and high lethality rate. In Brazil, rabies accidents animals potentially transmitting the disease are mandatory notification injuries. Exposure to infection places financial burden on public health systems, especially for care of people who exposed have risk death. We aimed define epidemiological profile human post-exposure assistance in municipality Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, from 2010 2015.
